Not many days until Christmas. The office parties and gatherings of friends may have already started. Check out our top tips to look after your smile this Christmas.

  1. Don’t ditch the routine. It’s easy to slip out of good habits, so make sure you stay on top of your gum and teeth health with brushing twice a day and interdental cleaning at least once a day.
  2. Moderation is the key. On the run up to Christmas there is always the risk of excess. Remember it’s not how much sugar is consumed at one time, but the frequency of sugar intake throughout the day that leaves you more at risk of tooth decay happening.
  3. Sugar free drinks. If you like you spirits and mixers, why not opt for sugar free mixers instead? You could also drink them through a straw which would by pass your teeth.
  4. Say Cheese! This is a great way to protect your teeth from all the sugary food damage. A cheese board after a meal will help neutralise the acid in the mouth much faster after eating.
  5. Beware the nuts! Hard crunchy nuts are often used in many foods during Christmas. These can easily break your teeth. So take care when you grab a handful of mixed nuts.
