Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures as it is able to provide an instant boost to smiles and improve confidence. Teeth lose their natural whiteness due to ageing and the protective enamel becoming less porous. Drinking coffee, red wine, tea and other strongly coloured drinks, in addition to smoking, can result in discolouration. When teeth lose their natural whiteness, the enamel loses its brilliance and the smile appears less radiant and healthy. Whitening treatments are able to restore the smile’s healthy glow in a short space of time.

Types of whitening treatment
Whitening treatments are available over-the-counter but the most effective systems are only available from your dentist. Two types of whitening treatment are provided at Time Dental; in-chair treatments and professional whitening.
In-chair tooth whitening
In-chair treatment involves applying hydrogen peroxide onto the surfaces of the teeth, which breaks the staining bonds and makes the teeth whiter and brighter. This procedure is very quick and you can lighten your teeth by a few shades in less than an hour.
Professional tooth whitening
Professional tooth whitening involves the use of custom-made whitening trays which are filled with Hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. The trays are worn for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Professional whitening takes between 10 – 14 days, but if there is heavy staining treatment may take longer.
Often, the best results are achieved by a combination of both treatments. Tooth whitening is a very safe, simple and effective procedure and the only potential side effect is increased sensitivity, which will nevertheless wear off very quickly.
Tooth whitening at Time Dental is the ideal treatment to give your smile a new lease of life, eliminating stains and creating a healthy look.
