Whiter teeth with tooth whitening gel at dentist near Alton

October 18th, 2012

Tooth whitening is a safe cosmetic dental procedure that can help you to have a brighter fresher smile and give you more confidence.

Time Dental near Alton in Hampshire provides this tooth whitening service for many of their patients.  There are two main types.  In-office tooth whitening and professional tooth whitening at-home.  The end result is essentially the same but the speed for the In-office tooth whitening is much faster.  This is because a high concentration of the tooth whitening gel is placed on the teeth that can whiten your teeth by a few shades in under and hour!  The professional teeth whitening gel for at-home is much more gentle.  Tooth whitening gel is placed into the custom fit whitening trays which is then put into the mouth for less than 1 hour.  This process is repeated once a day for 10-14 days.  An easy way to make a big impact and gain more confidence.

Time Dental provides this service to patients in the Alton area as well as other towns in Hampshire, Surrey, West sussex and Berkshire.

2 steps to a natural smile at cosmetic dentist near Farnborough

July 4th, 2012

A patient came to Time Dental having had 2 incisor teeth missing from her upper teeth.  She was only 16 years old and had never had her lateral incisors come through which made her feel very self conscious.  The spaces had closed but she was unhappy with the colour of her teeth and the fact that she looked “fangy” with her 2 incisors missing.

We discussed her options and the steps involved to help her feel more confident.  The simplest way to help her would be a 2 step process. The first step would be to whiten her teeth, and the second step would be to carry out composite bonding on her canines to make them look more like incisors.

Step 1 involved taking impressions of her teeth for her custom fit tooth whitening trays.  There are two main ways for teeth whitening; in-office or professional at-home tooth whitening.  The end result for both tooth whitening systems is the same, the main difference is the speed.  Professional at-home tooth whitening is much more gentle on the teeth, so she wanted to go for this option.  The teeth whitening gel is placed into the custom fit whitening trays and inserted in the mouth and kept in place for 40 minutes.  This process is then repeated once a day for 10-14 days.

Once the fresher appearance of the teeth have been achieved, step 2 involves composite bonding.  This is where composite is added to the canine teeth and bonded into place and shaped to look like incisor teeth.  Composite bonding is an excellent way of improving your smile.  With the current white composite materials a natural appearance can be achieved by a skilled cosmetic dentist.

Time Dental provides this service for patients in Farnborough area as well as the surroundings towns in Surrey, Hampshire, West sussex and Berkshire.

Tooth whitening at dentist near Godalming, Surrey

April 30th, 2012

A patient came to Time Dental looking to freshen his smile.  We discussed what it was that bothered him about his smile.  He said he was unhappy with the colour of them and thought that they looked discouloured.  He wanted a brighter smile and wanted to also surprise his girlfriend whom he was going to see in 3 weeks time.

We discussed his options.  The simplest way to freshen up your smile is to use professional tooth whitening.  It is still one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry services as it is safe and effective if carried out properly.  He was unaware of the types of professional tooth whitening systems.  One option for professional teeth whitening is to use custom fit trays that are loaded with the whitening gel, and then placed in the mouth for 40 minutes.  The process is then repeated once daily for 10-14 days.  This is a gentle way of freshening up your smile and will have a huge impact on your confidence.

Another option is the in-office tooth whitening system.  Some in-office systems use a light source to activate the whitening gel, this is sometimes called laser teeth whitening although no laser is actually used.  Other in-office teeth whitening systems are chemically activated so there is no need for the light.  In-office teeth whitening can boost the shade of your teeth up by a few shades straight away.  We recommend that if you opt for the in-office system, combine it with the professional at home kit to help stabilise the whitening process.  Both types of tooth whitening produce the same results except the in-office is faster.

Many patients at Time Dental have enjoyed the benefits of professional tooth whitening.  Time Dental have provided this services to patients from Godalming as well as the surrounding areas such as Farnborough, Fleet, Aldershot, Winchester, Alton and Guildford.

Tooth whitening at Farnham dentists

Latest statistics show that tooth whitening is a very popular service that most people are looking for from their cosmetic dentist.  This statistic is reflected in the number of people who have chosen to whiten their teeth at Time Dental.

A client came to see us at Time Dental who will be getting married in April.  She was always aware that her teeth were discoloured and stained but had not done anything about it.  Now that her wedding was approaching she really had that motivation to get it done!

We discussed her options of the different types of tooth whitening procedures; in-office and the professional tooth whitening kit.  The in-office tooth whitening system uses a high concentration of gel that can whiten your teeth by a few shades in one hour.  Some systems use a light source (sometimes called laser whitening) to activate the gel, and other systems use a chemical activation.  Both do the same job.

The professional tooth whitening kit involves placing the special tooth whitening gel in custom fit whitening trays.  The trays are then worn for 40 minutes per day.  It normally takes 10-14 sessions of professional tooth whitening to achieve a great result.  Some professional tooth whitening systems require you to wear the trays over night.  These types of sysytems use a lower concentration gel which is why they need to be worn for a  longer period of time.

If you are really pushed for time and you want the best and fastest result a combination of in-office and professional tooth whitening can really put a sparkle back into your smile.  Both systems are safe to use just make sure your teeth and gums have been assessed for health by your dentist before starting a course of tooth whitening.
