She had braces as a child but never wore her retainers and over the last few years spaces had opened up between her teeth and were now visible when she smiled.  She was now very conscious about her smile.

We discussed her options which were either train track braces but using tooth coloured brackets which makes them very discreet.  She was not keen no this option.  The other option was to use clear aligners which are changed very 2 weeks to help straighten your teeth.  Our Cosmetic dentist Dr Rashid is certified in using clear aligners as well as the new Inman aligner that can straighten your teeth in a matter of weeks.

Straight teeth isn’t just for cosmetic purposes.  It does help to give you confidence if you have crooked teeth and an uneven smile, but it aslo helps to keep your gums healthy.

A patient came to Time Dental near Farnborough looking to straighten his crooked teeth with adult orthodontic braces.  He had braces as a teenager and had not worn any retainers.  Over time his teeth had now drifted back into a crooked position and he was now very self conscious of his smile.  He had heard about invisible adult braces and wanted to know what his options were.

We discussed various options which were fixed orthodontic braces now with tooth coloured brackets to make them more discreet.  Clear aligners which are changed every two weeks and are virtually invisible adult braces.  We also discussed the Inman aligner which is the new wonder brace which is relatively invisible and can move teeth in a matter of weeks.

After showing him photos of his mouth it was clear that due to the crooked teeth he was finding it very hard to keep his mouth plaque and tartar free.  This had resulted in early stages of gum disease.  By straightening his teeth he would not only have a better smile but also be able to keep his gums in much better condition.

Straight teeth with invisible adult braces at dentist Farnham

A patient came to Time Dental recently looking to improve her smile.  She was always unhappy with her upper front four teeth which protruded at different angles.  She did not want to have fixed train track braces and had heard about invisible braces for adults and wanted to know more about it.

On assessing her mouth she had crowding and overlapping of her upper incisors.  She was a good candidate for both the Invisalign clear aligner system as well as the Inman aligner.

Invisalign invisible braces uses a series of clear aligners that gradually move your teeth over a period of time.  They are virtually invisible and since they are removable you can eat what you normally eat and brush and clean your teeth far easier than with train track braces.  The treatment can take between 8-24 months depending on the severity of the crowding.

The Inman aligner is also a removable brace.  Although it has clear parts to it, it is slightly more visible than the clear aligners.  However it can move teeth in a matter of weeks!  Treatment can take typically 8-16 weeks.  This orthodontic appliance is great if you want fast results.  As it is removable you can also eat normally and brush your teeth as normal.

Both options are a fantastic way for straightening teeth for adults so you can have the smile you have always wanted.

Time Dental provides this service in Farnham, Fleet, Winchester and Alton, as well as other areas in Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and West sussex.

A patient came to Time Dental looking to straighten her teeth.  She had always been bothered by her crooked upper and lower front teeth.  She was also unhappy with the discolouration of them.  She had heard about adult invisible braces and wanted to find out more information about them.

On assessing her mouth, she had quite significant crowding of both her upper and lower incisors.  The colour of her teeth were also very dark.

In order to straighten her teeth we discussed the following options:

1. orthodontic train track braces.  These can be metal or tooth coloured brackets and can take 12-24 months of treatment. The difficulty is ensuring your dental hygiene is at an optimium level, as the brackets make this very difficult.

2. Invisalign clear aligners.  The virtually invisible adult brace.  This system uses a series of clear aligners that are changed every 2 weeks which incrementally move your teeth.  Treatment time can be between 8-24 months depending on how much movement is required.  As they are reomvable you can eat your normal foods and cleaning your teeth normally.

3. Inman aligner.  A removable brace that can move teeth between 8-18 weeks.  Can achieve excellent results in straightening teeth.  Can only move the front teeth.

After fully discussing her options she was eligable for the Inman aligner and want to proceed with that option.

Time Dental provides the Invisalign and Inman aligner service for pateints in the Camberley, Winchester, and Petersfield as well as other areas in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and West Sussex.

A patient came to Time Dental looking to improve her smile.  She was unappy that her smile was not straight.  She felt they were also discoloured and she did not like the appearance of a blue line around the gums of an old crown she had at the front of her mouth.

On further investigation, her smile was not straight because her canine tooth was out of line from her other teeth.  Her teeth did have a generalised discolouration and she reported that she drank alot of tea and coffee that stains your teeth.  The crown was over ten years old and was blue at the gum line due to the metal from under the crown showing through.  She also had three porcelain veneers at the front of her mouth which was previously fitted to correct the overlapping crowded front teeth.

In order to straighten her upper teeth especially the canine, there were a couple of options.  The first option was to use orthodontic adult braces to straighten the canine tooth.  Teeth can be straightened with fixed braces or removable Invisalign adult clear braces.  Another option could be to use composite bonding on the canine to lengthen it to bring it into alignment.  Both options are viable to achieve the desired result with the gold standard being the adult orthodontic braces.

Once the teeth had been straightened, professional tooth whitening can be carried out to freshen up the smile.  Professional teeth whitening is an easy safe way to make an immediate improvement to your smile.  One thing she had to bear in mind was that when teeth whitening, crowns, veneers and fillings stay the same shade while the natural teeth will whiten. Once the teeth had been whitened we could replace the old crown with an aesthetic all-ceramic crown which gives tbe best natural look and also replace the old porcelain veneers to match the new fresher whiter smile.

Time Dental provides teeth straightening and teeth whitening for many patients in the Farnham, Fleet, Aldershot, Farnborough and Winchester areas as well as the surrounding areas in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.

Straight teeth fast with Inman aligner at Godalming dentists

March 8th, 2012

A patient came to see us who was unhappy with their smile.  He was recently going through a personal life crisis, and was feeling very down about himself.  His confidence was low and he wanted to make a good impression when meeting people for the first time.  He had always been aware of his crowded, uneven teeth and this had not bothered him until now.

On assessing his mouth, his main issue was the overlapping upper front four teeth.  He felt that if he could get these straight as quickly as possible it would really give a boost to his confidence.

We discussed all the options.  One option was to have fixed braces, which he was not too keen on as it took a long time and he did not want to be seen with a brace on.  Another option was the invisible clear aligner system- Invisalign.  These clear aligners are changed every 2 weeks and incrementaly move your teeth over a period of time.  Although the advantage was that they were virtually invisible, and he could eat what ever he wanted as they were removable, they would still take at least 8 months to get this teeth straight.

The other option was the Inman aligner.  This is a removable brace that squeezes the front four teeth into a straight position in matter of weeks.  As it is removable you can still eat whatever you like.  The main advantage is the speed.  It uses very gentle pressure to move the teeth super fast which is its secret.

Invisible braces at dentist near Hampshire

A client came to see us yesterday unhappy about her smile.  She had jsut got married a few months ago, and when she looked back at her photos she noticed how crooked her top teeth were.  She did some research and wanted to know what the options were for invisible braces.

On assessing her mouth, she had quite significant overlapping, or crowding, of her top and bottom teeth.  Her her upper teeth were also twisted and rotated out of position which really bothered her.

We discussed her options.  One option was to have traditional train-track braces but using tooth coloured brackets.  This was an option she was still not willing to consider, especially when her main concern were just her top front teeth.

An other option would be to use Invisalign the clear aligner system.  These are removable clear aligners which are virtually invisible.  Invisalign is a great system but like with all treatment options there are limitations.  Due to the severity of crowding her treatment could take 1-2 years of active treatment.

A further option was using the Inman aligner.  This is an appliance which again is removable and is made of clear acrylic and can move teeth in a matter of weeks.  It works really fast due to the gentle constant pressure it applies to the teeth from coiled springs.  Discomfort is very minimal and normally lasts only a few days after first wearing the appliance.  It is designed to move only the front four incisors and so was another great option for her.

Invisible braces with Invisalign at Farnham dentists

Time Dental have a number of adult patients who are very keen to improve their smiles.  One such patient had really been bothered by gaps which she has had for years and wanted to know what the options were for improving her smile.

One option could be to use porcelain veneers.  Porcelain veneers are a great way to have an instant result in improving your smile.  Veneers can also be used to correct discolouration, crowding, and uneven teeth.

Another option is to move the teeth into the correct position with braces.  Many people think of metal train tracks when you mention braces to them.  However there have been huge advances in technology and now with the use of clear aligners virtually invisible braces are now available at Time Dental in Farnham.  Perfect for adults!  Now you can have the smile you have always wanted without the worry of people knowing that you are having it done.

Invisalign uses advanced computer technology in the US to provide a 3D simulation of how your teeth will be moved into the correct position.  The clear aligners are then processed and sent back to your certified Invisalign dentist.  The clear aligners are changed every 2 weeks and incrementaly move the teeth into the desired position.

Invisible braces with Invisalign at Godalming dentists

January 11th, 2012

A client came to see us to see if she could improve her smile.  She was unhappy with the overlapping top and bottom front teeth, and she had become very conscious of it.  She was aware that porcelain veneers were a very good option in straightening her teeth but prefered not have her teeth reshaped and she was not keen on having visible train-track braces to move her teeth.

Another alternative to train-track braces is the Invisalign clear aligner sysytem.  These use virutally invisble clear aligners to move the teeth incrementally into the right position.  The advantages of Invisalign are:

  • allows you to eat whatever food you like
  • the aligners are removable at anytime
  • virtually invisible teeth-straightening
  • allows you to brush and floss your teeth normally for optimium gum health
  • aligners are smooth unlike brackets that can catch and irritate the cheek
  • very short visits only required every 6 weeks

The first step is to take impressions of the teeth.  These are sent to the lab in the US where they use advanced technology to provide a virtual simulation of how your teeth will move and the number of aligners required.

Once the aligners are made the first set are fitted by your Invisalign certified dentist and review appointments are made every 6 weeks to give you your new 3 sets.  The aligners are changed every 2 weeks and you’re on your way to a straighter teeth and greater confidence without anyone knowing!
