Dental Implants at Time Dental in Farnham, Surrey

What are Dental Implants?

Your teeth have roots which are attached to your jaw bone. You only see approximately 1/3 of the actual length of your tooth as the remaining part of the tooth (the root) is under the gum line.

When a tooth is removed or if there are missing teeth, a dental implant can be placed to replace the tooth. The dental implant replaces the root where the natural tooth used to be. It is made of titanium.

I have more than one tooth missing. Does that mean I have to have a dental implant to replace every missing tooth?

No. In certain clinical situations replacing every tooth with an implant may not be clinically necessary. There are a number of factors that need to be carefully assessed and also discussed with you. Each case is tailored made for that particular case. Your dentist and Implant surgeon will be able to discuss all your options with you.

The implant is carefully and gently placed into the jaw bone by an implant surgeon. General dentists are also allowed to place implants however many practices have a dedicated implant surgeon that carry out this procedure. They normally have many years of experience and are able to deal with complex cases.
