Time Dental supports the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice

November 30th, 2010

Time Dental on West Street is providing a unique way of supporting the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.  Time Dental will donate £30 to the hospice for every tooth whitening treatment carried out.  “The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is such an important part of Farnham that we wanted to help support the great work they do,” says Dr Rashid of Time Dental, “when you use our professional tooth whitening kits, it feels good to know that your also helping to support a brilliant charity.  Tooth whitening is a very easy way of making a big difference to your smile.  The gel removes the stains built up by tea, coffee, red wine, coloured foods and even certain types of medicine.  Over-the-counter kits can be highly acidic and damaging to the teeth and gums, so always use a professional system.  There are two ways of tooth whitening, in-office or the professional kit.  The in-office tooth whitening system uses a high concentrated gel that boosts the shade of your teeth up to eight shades lighter in under one hour.  Some in-office systems use laser whitening, this is just a high energy light source that activates the whitening gel, you dont need to use a light source in other types of systems.  The professional kit involves providing custom fit trays that are loaded with the gel and placed in the mouth which are normally kept in over night.  Combining the two systems can give you the best results.”

Spaces to fill?

November 8th, 2010

Gaps especially at the front of the mouth can look very unsightly, especially if food is also getting trapped in between them. Going for a meal in a restaurant could be an embarrassing experience!  Food traps can also result in stagnation of bacteria in the mouth and cause tooth decay.  The case above shows a space between the two front teeth.  A really quick way of making them look better as well stopping food trapping is to provide porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of ceramic that are bonded onto the front surface of your tooth.  The veneers once bonded on are very strong and will last many years as long as they are cared for in the correct way.  Veneers can be used to lighten your teeth and change the shape of them to make them look better.

“One of our clients was unhappy with the colour of his teeth and of the gap in between them. So we carried out tooth whitening and placed four ceramic veneers to close the spaces”, says Dr Rashid of Time Dental, “we have master ceramists to handcraft bespoke individual veneers that are tailor-made for each individual tooth.  The detail that goes into creating these veneers is amazing!  This is why they look so life-like”.

Friendly Bacteria, Tremendous Toxins

September 22nd, 2010

There are enough Yakult lovers out there for you to hear all about the great things that friendly bacteria has done, and to be fair, fermented milk is far from the only good-thinking, good-doing, piece of earthy biomass out there.

Take Botulinum Toxin for example first used nearly 30 years ago, this ‘friendly’ toxin has helped people with muscle spasms and upper motor neuron syndrome for years.  Since then, Botulinum Toxin – commonly known as its brand name; Botox – has been used as a much, much simpler version of cosmetic surgery… so simple in fact, it doesn’t even require surgery!

A minute quantity is all that’s needed to relax the facial muscles that otherwise create wrinkle lines… lines that are caused by overactive muscle movement – a lifetimes worth if you like – wearing away the collagen in the skin.  The procedure is beyond safe and best of all, it takes no time at all however, be prepared to make a return visit once every three months or so, as your body will very gradually break it down.

Botox has become widespread as people quickly cottoned on to how easy a procedure it is.  And with many celebrities tagging it as less intrusive and less artificial than types of plastic surgery, it was destined to hit the big time.  I bet it’s more widespread than you think too… yet so subtle unless you’re with someone day-in day-out you’d barely even notice!

…And who ever said toxins were harmful!?!

Porcelain Choice? Veneerrific!!

August 11th, 2010

I’ve been hearing about the ‘Porcelain Veneer’ option of smile rejuvenation more and more frequently in recent years.  For starters, it’s in the press with every A-List who’s-who from Jon Bon Jovi to Halle Berry… it seems those stars with perfect smiles are dreamed-up no less than the scripts that make them stars in the first place – but lets face it, they do have perfect smiles don’t they!

And so they should; how would you feel starring in front of millions of people and being made to bare all from your big toe to your gummy smile in the good name of Hollywood?  It’s even been proven that an attractive smile can make you more confident, more successful, and even more intelligent looking too.  Yet, just because these a-list stars set the standard, it doesn’t mean that they are in a league of their own.  Porcelain Veneers are one of those cosmetic treatments straddling the public domain.

Reasonably priced, wonderfully easy to fit and available with the specialists at Time Dental, veneers can also be used not just to bring back that white toothed sparkle, but to bridge gaps and cover tooth chips; whether stained, damaged or badly worn, you will leave with an A-Grade smile.

Even the technical jargon is as easy as 1, 2, 3…  Veneers are wafer-thin lamintates or shells of tooth-coloured material usually made out of porcelain due to its strength and durability.  They are “cemented” to the front surface of teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance.  A good analogy would that be that veneers are for your teeth what false fingernails are for your hands… although, they’ll last a whole lot longer, and don’t come in fancy colours(!)

A Dentistry Revolution?

August 1st, 2010

The American Association of Orthodontists (http://www.aaomembers.org) suggests that over 75% of the population would benefit from some form of Orthodontic treatment… the same is true in the UK, if not to an even further extreme.  But at least something can be done about it – and the whispers are telling that treatment just got a whole lot easier for both the patient AND the dentist… we all know what happens when time-scale is reduced …the price is reduced too.

The Inman Aligner is one of those revolutionary bits of kit that is taking the industry by storm.  Designed in the US, it eradicates the need for what’s commonly known throughout school playgrounds as ‘train-tracks’ – Much gentler on the eye, the Inman Aligner places pressure on the teeth using a coiled spring mechanism, while treatments; rather than lasting a dreaded 2 to 3 years, rarely last a quarter of that time – and have been known to work within as little as 4-6 weeks(!!) – although it’s best to allow up to 4 months.

Time Dental is the only practice in the area that offers this form of confidence boosting.  It can be applied to both your Top and Bottom sets of teeth and works for adults and children.

Have a look at this video to really understand the power of this product:  http://www.inmanaligner.com/HowItWorks.htm – and get in touch with the Time Dental Team if you would like to book an appointment or discuss things further.
